Once you reach the bottom of Pian della Mussa, from the car park located below the refuge, climb along the paved ramp leading to it and follow it to the hairpin bend, where you take the dirt road.

Pass the small house you encounter on the right and reach the ford at the end of the road. Cross the ford and take the trail that, with a curve, allows you to cross the ridge. Continue along the trail for about a hundred meters until you find two trail markers.

Ignore the turn-off for Pian Ciamarella on the right (the trail you will take on the descent) and continue straight along the trail taken at the start.

Subsequently, the path curves slightly to the northeast, then gaining elevation on grassy slopes dominated by the imposing walls of Uja di Ciamarella. About 1 hour from the start, the trail curves decisively to the northeast with a traverse overlooking a small basin. From here you can see the ridge of Colle Battaglia (2,321 m), which is reached in 15 minutes, crossing in the final section a striking depression with rocky spires, among which Rocca Ciarva stands out.

From the Colle you can enjoy a spectacular view of the peaks overlooking Pian della Mussa, among which Ciamarella and Bessanese stand out.

Near the trail marker on the Colle, continue descending toward Pian Ciamarella. Here you cross the entire plateau keeping to the right of the stream, until you reach the alpine pastures (2,112 m).

After passing the alpine pastures, the trail gains elevation slightly, curving to the southwest. After a short traverse, the trail descends in zigzags until it reaches the junction that was ignored during the ascent. From here, retrace the outward route.
