Overview

EscursionAble was created with the aim of designing an accessible itinerary for everyone, thereby promoting inclusivity in mountain tourism. The name itself combines the noun “escursionismo” (hiking) with the English adjective “able”, meaning “capable.”

EscursionAble can also be experienced using a joëlette. Along the trail, there are interactive installations designed to stimulate the senses (sight, hearing, and touch) while at the same time enhancing the landscape through greater awareness of its natural resources.

Directions

The route starts above Balme, near the ice-skating rink. From here, ignore the mule track that climbs toward Pian della Mussa and take the trail that descends toward the village.

Continuing along the dirt road, flanked by several benches, you reach a good panoramic viewpoint over the Gorgia, a gorge carved into the rock with a striking waterfall. You then reach the vicinity of the Pakinò ski lift, which you cross via a grassy path.

Ignore the signs toward the Cornetti hamlet and climb the meadow up to the wooden hut located at the top of the ski lift. At this point, take the forest track on the left until you reach Alpe Arbosetta (1,530 m), the highest point of the route.

Ignore the road that climbs toward Alpe Comba and descend along the dirt track to the hamlet of Frè, then continue on asphalt to the Rio Paschiet, which is crossed via a concrete footbridge. The trail leading back toward the village of Balme (Villaggio Albaron) is marked on the left, while on the right opens the wild and unspoiled Vallone di Servin, where it is possible to continue the hike along the nature trail (difficulty level E – hiking).

Along this descent section, there are information panels describing the local plant species, in particular maples, beeches, and larches. After a few ups and downs, a steep descent leads down to the hamlet of Villaggio Albaron, near the former Sauzè ski lift, where the itinerary ends.
