Overview

A short and easy excursion on a dirt road leading to the panoramic plateau of Belfé, above the village of Ala di Stura, from which, on the clearest days, the sanctuary of Santa Cristina can also be seen in the distance. Here you will find a small hamlet, with a group of houses renovated in keeping with the Alpine style.

Starting point

Directions

From Località La Frabbica, Ala Di Stura, the starting point for the ski lifts, cross the bridge over the Stura and take the dirt road which, turning left, passes right under the chairlift.

After the hairpin bend, take another dirt track on the left, which leads back to the main cart track in a few minutes. Then continue to the left, always along the cart track that climbs gently through the woods. After about 1h from the start, you reach the panoramic Pian Belfé, with its characteristic group of huts and the small church of San Vito.

The return follows the same route as the outward journey.

Notes

If you prefer to avoid the steep detour at the beginning of the route, it is possible to continue on a slight slope along the Stura for about 600 meters, until you encounter the dirt road on the left that climbs into the woods. From Pian Belfé, it is then possible to continue towards Alpe Longimala via a dirt road (detour to the right) or an easy path through the woods (at the end of the plateau continue to the left). From Alpe Longimala, numerous other paths of EE difficulty branch off.
