CAI Lanzo
Volunteers who care for these mountains and take care of them
Since 1966, the year of its foundation, CAI Lanzo has been promoting numerous initiatives: from social outings in the area and beyond, to courses and thematic lessons dedicated to sports and mountain safety, photography, as well as botany, mycology, and crafts. The section's activities are aimed at all age groups, thanks also to the presence of a youth mountaineering group and a youth group.
Today the section includes two subsections, one in Val Grande, the other in Val di Viù, and numerous commissions. Since 2010, there has also been a Speleological Commission, which since 2015 has been collaborating with Parco della Mandria for the management of the Pugnetto Caves and the training of speleological guides to accompany the public inside them.
CAI Lanzo currently owns numerous bivouacs in the Lanzo Valleys area, which it maintains periodically, as well as two ecomuseums: the Brunetta Talc Mine above Vrù, and one dedicated to the history of mountaineering in the Lanzo Valleys.
However, the greatest contribution provided by the section's members to the area is undoubtedly the maintenance of the trail network. Since 2018, thanks to the Adopt a Trail initiative, members have been monitoring their assigned trail, communicating any maintenance needs directly to the section.
CAI Lanzo has always been committed to ensuring that local trails are accessible to as many people as possible, also dedicating projects to inclusivity in the mountains.
