A mountain refuge run by volunteers
Welcome to Rifugio Cibrario, a mountain refuge at 2,616 m, located on the Sabiunin plateau, in the Peraciaval area.
Built in 1890 on the proposal of Count Luigi Cibrario, the original structure has undergone numerous expansions and technical improvements over time, also thanks to the CAI Leinì section, which manages the refuge.
Rifugio Cibrario does not have a single manager; thanks to the numerous volunteers from the section, management groups alternate during the opening period with weekly shifts, providing hospitality services at altitude free of charge.
This alternating management makes the refuge a place of great character, where the flavors of home cooking change from week to week, offering you a different welcome each time, while maintaining the consistently impeccable quality of service.
The refuge, a stop on the iconic Tour della Bessanese and the Alta Via Valli di Lanzo, has 42 beds divided among five rooms and the winter room, which is freely accessible only when the structure is closed.
Reachable from Usseglio via trails no. 120 and 118, the ascent to the refuge can also be made from Margone, a hamlet of Usseglio, via trail no. 118. From the refuge, you can continue toward Colle dell'Autaret, Lago della Rossa, or ascend to Croce Rossa.
