Freedom Trail A route from Casa del Parco in Favella to Colle del Lys – Sentiero della Libertà
An itinerary that winds through places of memory, leaving from the park at Favella, five kilometers from Rubiana and arriving at Colle del Lys (The trail can be followed in both directions).
In 1944 the rooms of the elementary school of Favella gave hospitality to the partisans of the Garibaldi brigade ‘Felice Cima’ giving tailoring, nursing and messaging services.
: From the Susa valley: leave the motorway at ‘Avigliana Ovest’ then follow the indications for Rubiana and Colle del Lys. The hamlet of Favella is reached turning left at the crossroads and climbing up. Otherwise, for those who wish to set off from Colle del Lys, continue for several kilometers.
From the Lanzo Valleys: cross the centre of Viù and, at the hamlet Fucine, turn left following the indications for Colle del Lys. The hamlet of Favella is after the colle, going down for several kilometers and turning right.
Dalla Casa del Parco (910 m) si sale al centro della Frazione Favella (967 m), piccolo ma caratteristico borgo montano ricco di fontane, per imboccare il sentiero in direzione Muande Franchino.
Seguendo il sentiero che scende verso il torrente Messa, dove grossi massi ne consentono un agevole attraversamento si risale in mezzo a un bosco in cui si incontrano due piloni votivi. Si continua a salire alla borgata Suppo (1250 m) e alla sua bella fontana, poi, nella faggeta alle pendici del Monte Rognoso e si arriva al Colle della Frai (1337 m). Proseguendo sul percorso che costeggia il Monte Pelà dopo circa 15 minuti si giunge al Colle del Lys.
